Bassett, Inc. is a full service arborist and landscaping company on the South West side of Madison (Verona). We are growing by leaps and bounds and are looking to fill several key positions in our company.

Landscape Construction Lead and Crew Members [ top ]

Our Landscape Division is growing and we are looking to add to our Landscape Design, Build and Install crews with experienced Lead and Crew Members.

Lead applicants should have at least 2-5 years of applicable, practical experience managing a small crew and be able to coordinate a variety of projects- from small landscape renovations to larger patios, walk and wall work. This position requires excellent communication, problem solving and time/people management skills, as well as thorough understanding of landscaping construction and the ability to operate/maintain trucks and machinery.

Crew members should also have at least 2 years of landscaping experience, with a willingness to work within project deadlines and specifications, cooperate with other's, take direction and problem solve to produce exceptional results.

Ideal candidates for all positions would possess not only hardscape skills but also a working knowledge of landscape horticulture and plant healthcare, and the ability to read and manifest CAD plans. We offer a variety of landscaping challenges, not just construction projects, and you should be open to assist in other facets of our business such as seasonal cleanups, mulching,and shrub pruning. Winter responsibilities will include snow removal. A valid and clean driver's license and your own transportation to and from our shop on the far west side of Madison is required.

Lawn Maintenance/Mowing [ top ]

An integral part of our business is helping our clients keep their lawn and landscape top notch and tidy. Our Lawn Maintenance division is taking applications for experienced individuals. You should have a minimum of 1 year of experience, a valid and clean driver's license and your own transportation to and from our shop on the far west side of Madison.

Job duties include, but are not limited to: weekly mowing, seasonal cleanups and mulching, light shrub pruning, and other landscape maintenance duties associated with a high standard of service and excellence. Applicant should be very organized, conscientious and be able to work well with others. As this work is seasonal, expect 40+ hours in spring and fall, with additional hours available in other facets of our business, as well as winter responsibilities including snow removal.

Arborist/Climber [ top ]

An integral part of our business is our Certified Arborist Division that offers year-round services of tree and shrub pruning, tree removals, storm damage cleanup, cabling and bucket work. In addition to tree work, we are committed to the entire health of the landscape and offer comprehensive plant health care and insect/disease control, plant consultation and hazard analysis.

Ideal candidates should have a degree in urban forestry or related field, minimum of 2 years field experience, ISA certification a plus, or ability to obtain immediately, and Wisconsin pesticide application certification section 3.0 Turf and Landscape, or ability to obtain. Additional pluses are a strong knowledge of horticulture and arboriculture practices, plant identification and disease and insect identification. 



 


Skills required: rope and saddle climbing, bucket truck operation. In conjunction with winter tree work, you will have snow removal responsibilities. A valid and clean driver's license and your own transportation to and from our shop on the far west side of Madison is required.
 


Moderate gear allowance provided; In-house and yearly conference training provided.

Lawn Care Technician [ top ]

A healthy lawn is a happy lawn, and Bassett, Inc. is now taking applications for experienced Lawn Care Technicians to help keep our customers lawns in tip-top shape. Ideal candidates should have a degree in horticulture or related field, minimum of 2 years field experience, and Wisconsin pesticide application certification section 3.0 Turf and Landscape, or ability to obtain immediately. 



In this position, you will be required to self route, schedule and complete applications in our Lawn Care Division. You should have turfgrass management skills including plant identification, insect pest and disease identification and control solutions and be able to apply principles of IPM.



While this position is seasonal, you will also have winter snow removal responsibilities. A valid and clean driver's license and your own transportation to and from our shop on the far west side of Madison is required.

Plant Health Care Specialist [ top ]

We are looking for energetic, motivated individuals to add to our Plant Health Care Division. In this position you will be responsible for treating landscape trees, shrubs and lawns for insect pests and diseases, as well as properly applying principles of IPM.

Applicant should have excellent tree and shrub identification skills along with insect and disease knowledge, be very organized, and able to self direct and schedule. You should have a minimum of 1 year of experience, a valid and clean driver's license and your own transportation to and from our shop on the far west side of Madison. Possession of a Wisconsin pesticide application certification section 3.0 Turf and Landscape is required, or ability to obtain immediately. As this work is seasonal, expect winter responsibilities to include snow removal.
